Supervisors, you have had a chance to see the presentation of the Events Survey. What are your opinions about what to do for those two budget line items? |

My opinion is looked pretty evenly presented both for and against the service. I believe that we should proceed with keeping activities, but bringing it down to a reduced cost without someone planning everything. Some of the things we are paying Lisa to do could easily be down by an active resident free of charge. Things like the toddler social hours. This is more of a playgroup activity that should be run by a mom volunteer within our community. The Book Clubs are another example. Clubs are great to have, but these could also very easily be run by an active volunteer within our community. I like the idea of paying for Lisa to run a few large events each year and lets use our dollars wisely to cover the costs associated and make them great events! |

I am incline to agree with Joyce and wish to do away with this position in-favor with forming an event committee, comprising of volunteers oversee by Carrie. Also, all events should be free and the we should not have more than 4-5 events yearly. |

I'll stick to my previous vote to cut the budget by 50%, the consensus from community sounds like everyone wants great big events. I'd say even # 6 Big Events again just throwing out an even balanced # and we go by largest attended events. |

Based on the results, I'd say we keep all events over 30% approved, which includes the bigger ones and just a couple small ones. I agree with Joyce that we don't need to have a 25 hour per week events coordinator for this. The total cost of events would be somewhere around $14,000 and then we'd have to add the coordinator's fee on a per event basis. So, the total would probably be somewhere under $20,000. Also, we could look for sponsors and drop it down further. |
