Post subject:  Daytime Rover continuation..

This subject is for discussion of continuation of the daytime rover hours.

Is this something we want to continue for the rest of the year or place as a permanent shift??

This is the 6pm to 10pm shift.

I think if the Community wants the Rover during day time we should support it.

I would like to request to continue to have Rover patrol coverage from 6pm – 10pm.

For starters it’s been nice to have a ‘presence’ at the amenities-whether to escort folks from the pool areas when an attendant is not on staff at closing time or to patrol the courts (basketball, volley ball, tennis & roller hockey) and beach club during evening peak times when John and I are gone for the day. With upcoming holidays, days off from school as well as out of town visitors, this service will be invaluable to be that firm presence of watching over the amenities so to speak.

Additionally, it’s nice to be able to have the Rover check on something suspicious when a resident has a concern especially during that 6pm – 10pm time frame. Often if someone calls for a suspicious vehicle, person, etc. during the day, John will check it out. But for the times he is gone for the day, the Rover can quickly check it out and make an assessment and proceed accordingly.

Just a point of view from an office admin...

I totally agree with Wendy.

The evening Rover is a definite access to the community's security during the high residential and vehicular traffic time periods.

It's presence is an extension of Tampa police and the Neighborhood Watch Team. Having all hands-on-deck to not only deter crime but, to help residents feel secure.

I have always advocate for both our evening and night Rover to become social butterflies; to greet all and to know us by name. This allows residents to feel comfortable in observing and reporting suspicious activities to them when necessary.

If I may add, to be effective we need to ensure our rules are clear for the Rover team to follow and enforce. Along, with ongoing training.

Please extend this position indefinitely.

Thanks.

I would be in favor for keeping the Rover, how do the other board members feel about this?

I think we should continue it as well. Residents feel more secure with an active and visible security presence.

Dear All,

Patrolling rover does play an important role of deterrence, I am fine with it. Unfortunately they have limited powers to enforce anything beside slapping a nasty stickers on vehicles. To my knowledge they do not challenge anyone or have I seen them greeting anyone.

The rover is good for the late afternoon. However, couldn't we look into a morning rover around school bus time. Maybe a split shift.
